Willies Goalie Blockers For Ice Hockey

  • WHAT IS A GOALIE BLOCKER IN ICE HOCKEY?

A blocker is essentially an oversized foam pad attached to a glove and is worn on the hand that holds your stick to protect your hand and help you block the puck. The blocker affects a goalie’s stick placement, rebound control, balance and stance movement, so it’s vital to find the right blocker that fits well and is comfortable for you.

  • WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A FULL RIGHT AND REGULAR GOALIE BLOCKER?

If you’re like most goalies in ice hockey and hold your stick in your right hand, you need a regular blocker. If you hold your stick in your left hand, then you need a full right blocker.

  • WHAT IS THE BEST BLOCKER FOR MY PLAYSTYLE?

Like most of your gear in ice hockey, choosing the right goalie blocker for you comes down to personal preference, so it’s a good idea to come into our store at Willies in Coventry to try out a few different blockers.

The Bauer Hyperlite or Bauer Vapor 3X are first-rate options if you’re an agile goalie looking for a more flexible blocker. If a stiffer pad is more your style, the Bauer Supreme Mach, Bauer Supreme M5 Pro and Warrior G6 are excellent choices.

  • WHAT IS THE BEST BLOCKER FOR BEGINNERS?

For beginner goalies, we recommend the Bauer GSX; it’s a perfect hybrid between the stiff and more athletic blockers, as well as being budget-friendly while you’re learning the fundamentals of ice hockey.

  • WHAT SIZE BLOCKER SHOULD I GET?

You can find the size of blocker you need by your palm measurement. Simply measure your hand from the heel of your palm to the tip of your middle finger, and then compare that to our size charts available for each blocker.

When trying on a blocker, it should feel snug but not uncomfortably tight, and there shouldn’t be more than a quarter inch between the top of your finger and the top of the finger stalls.

  • WHERE CAN I GET AN ICE HOCKEY GOALIE BLOCKER FITTED?

Simply use any of our size guides to find the right fit while shopping online, or visit our store at Willies Coventry and speak to our expert team of ice hockey enthusiasts to find the perfect blocker for you!
