Willies Ice Hockey Pucks & Inline Balls

PUCKS & BALLS FAQS

  • What different types of Ice Hockey Pucks are there?

The classic black puck is used in official senior games and is a standardised weight of 6oz. White pucks are used in goalie training to help goaltenders practice tracking a white puck against white ice.

Training pucks are usually reddish/orange and weigh more than black pucks — coming in at 10oz. This heavier puck is used in practice sessions to help players improve their stickhandling and shot power.

Youth players under the age of eight tend to use a blue puck that weighs around 4oz. These lightweight pucks help younger players learn the basics of ice hockey until they’re strong enough to use the standard black pucks.
