How your inline hockey gloves fit is one of the most critical factors affecting your stick handling; players can choose from three different fit profiles of roller hockey gloves.
Traditional, 4-roll gloves such as the CCM Tacks 4R2, Warrior Alpha 4R and the Custom Bauer Pro gloves provide a roomier fit, meaning players can move their hands and fingers without much resistance.
Gloves with an anatomical profile such as the Bauer Supreme, Bauer X, CCM Tacks and Warrior Alpha have a much more snug fit around the hands and fingers. This contoured fit offers little range of motion to the player and is designed to feel like an extension of the hand.
Tapered gloves such as the Bauer Vapor, CCM Jetspeed and Warrior Covert offer a middle ground between anatomical and traditional gloves. The tapered glove fits anatomically around the hands and fingers and provides slightly more room towards the cuffs for a better range of motion at the wrists.
While your glove choice mainly comes down to personal preference, some gloves are more suited to different playstyles. Highly skilled, agile players are best suited to the extra range of motion from tapered gloves. More powerful, physical players will want an anatomical glove for that tight, comfortable feel. Old school roller hockey players tend to go for the boxy traditional four-roll glove, but the best way to know what you prefer is to come and try them on in-store.
We stock a range of entry-level hockey gloves designed for recreational or beginner players. They’re inexpensive and deliver the protection you need and the range of motion you want while you learn the fundamentals of playing roller hockey.
For beginner inline hockey players, we recommend the Warrior Alpha LX40, Warrior Covert QR5 40, Bauer X, CCM Tacks 4R2, CCM Jetspeed FT475, and CCM Tacks AS 550.
