Janie got interested in ice hockey around 10 years ago when she went to watch Blackburn Hawks at a home game.
She loved how intense and physical the sport was and was keen to start her own path in ice hockey.
She went on to join a recreational team for a couple of years which she loved, before taking a long break due to relocation.
When Janie came back home she got straight back into the sport without hesitation and is now playing for a recreational team and the Blackburn Hawks women's team.
She has introduced lots of friends and family to the sport and been able to share the experience of how amazing the hockey community is.
Janie is a mum to her little girl Emily, and already has plans for Emily to learn ice hockey.
Helena came from a household where everyone played hockey so stepped onto the ice for the first time at 18 months old. She played hockey and figure skated from the age of 4 for the Blackburn Hawks Academy and Blackburn Blades Figure Skating Club. When she was 9 she took up speed skating at Altrincham ice arena and instantly fell in love. From there, she competed nationally and internationally, even winning a speed skating British championship title.
She now plays rec hockey for the Altrincham Aardvarx and still competes in both speed and figure skating. She hopes to study Sports Science at university.

Jake started playing junior hockey at the age of 10 and started playing in the under 13s, in the in-house league.
He has been interested in ice hockey since of the age of 4 as I went to watch my first ever hockey game which was the Coventry blaze and Nottingham panthers and it was bench clearance, ever since that day I have been wanting to play ice hockey and have been watching the Coventry blaze ice hockey club.
As Jake have been working his way through the academy, he had always been watching the Coventry blaze and always tried to take different things front the senior games to Jake’s games in the academy and always looked up to Kevin Noble who used to be a defensive player.
As Jake has made it to his last season in the Coventry blaze academy he was awarded with being captain for his team in the under 18s.
Outside of ice hockey and working at Willies, Jake likes to spend time with all his family and friends.
Jacob started watching hockey back in 2017 when he was introduced to the blaze and instantly loved the game.
Jacob always looked up to number 23 Brett Robinson and 58 Kevin Noble. Since he was too old to go through the academy Jacob decided to join roller hockey for the midland mooseheads in 2019.
From there he has grown to love the sport more, playing and watching the game as much as he can.
Although Jacob is still new to the sport itself and his skills might not be as good as my fellow team mates but he still is a good team player who would rather create a good game play then be the hero and score all the goals.
